The day is barely half over, but i already have stories to tell. So after a refreshing 4 hours of sleep, I went to check out (once again between 0-10 degrees this morning) a film called “Pretty Bird,” Paul Schneider’s first forey into writing+directing. I liked it for the most part. Picture Billy Crudup as an asshole salesman, and Paul Giamatti as an asshole Rocket Scientist, and these two assholes taking advantage of Crudup’s subversively gay best friend in order to get cash to back a “lets build a Rocket Belt and get rich” scheme. And drama/comedy insues.
Next up I planned on seeing “The Wackness,” which I’ve been hearing good things about. I mean its got one of the olsen twins in it. Enough said. Right? So what I have to do because I dont have a fancy pass is to show up +2 hours before the screening time, wait with a bunch of people until they hand out blue cards with numbers on them, and then come back 30 minutes before the screening and line up in the order of the number we received. Quite the ordeal, but understandable, especially considering the circumstances. So the long and short of it is I get #64, figure I might still have a chance, come back 30 minutes before show time, and end up getting to the front of the line before I get stopped. They still sell me a ticket because they have seats left, but then decide at the last minute, “oops, j/k!” Sucks. I was #2, and the guy in front of me was really pissed. He put up a fight to get in, but did not end up on the inside.
Oh well, gives me some time to take a nap before this evenings festivities.
